If they both open to absolute trade, China will crush the US, not sure what even is the end goal here anymore. Wasn't that what he wanted to stop?
Probably so their billionaire friends can make some nice deals and the farmers and industry workers are thrown under the bus again.

That is exactly what China has been doing for years - if not worse. The Chinese Government have heavily subsidised some industries to the extent that few others can compete (eg. Steel), hence creating an over reliance on Chinese manufacturing in that industry.

The USA is not without it's own shortcomings but certainly does not susidise everything. On a commercial front, China is very protectionist, closed to many foreign entities and plagiarizes everything with no recourse. I don't have a porch, but if I did it would be spotless.

Donald Gump still dont get it, crawling more desperately around on the floor with his garbage book, "The Fart of the Deal" in his orange scull. China dont need your old tech cars or agri - products. Table has turned, and you now need their products, the dolls, even only 3 per kid, their clothes, Nike shoes (also Vietnam), the iPhones all made in China. You see, China makes your products far cheaper and with better quality. Xi and his team look at you humiliating yourself, then laughing and have plenty of time. Btw, today he is busy being a human shield for Putin in Red Square, supporting Putin who is trying to scare the Western world, with his 80 year old nukes. I guess if Gump did have more than only a few alive greys in his pumpkin scul, he could sit and handshake with Xi now, instead of Xi sending clear signals to Gump, and all, who he prefer to be friends to...But as most, he dont get it.

Certainly there are political factions that want to dump China. Perhaps they understand that it can't be done overnight. 60-70% of everything for sale @ Wal-Mart & Amazon is coming from China, after all. Revoke the tax treaty and watch the rats jump ship in droves.

Yet AAPL and TSLA and many other US companies manufacture there. I agree protectionism isn't good for trade but that's exactly what trump has been rallying around. Bringing all this manufacturing back into the USA and threatening companies if they try and get their widgets elsewhere. He's taking a page out of Xi's playbook but he's not quite smart enough to pull it off without a hitch
