Importers will definitely pass it onto the customers plus some.
That means either incomes have to go up by a similar enough amount or we will see stagflation.
Too early for Trumpies to wiggle their butts in celebration.

Unless it's absorbed by the importers , either way margins are decreased

I do suspect it will be PARTIALLY absorbed, but cannot believe that 0% will be passed on to the consumer.

Scary close today. I'd have felt better if gold and bonds were at the levels it was when the markets were at the close values.....but something isn't adding up here.

The 10% extra tax global without calling it a tax only the guy who doesn't pay his employees to become rich would pull this off on a national level

I get the valid point you're making but I'd add that "absorption" by the last-stage importer, whether partial or not, doesn't mean the issue disappears and no one else avoids the overall pain. It just means the 10% gets shared out.

The consequences break out somewhere else, indirectly and slowly, which is much harder to pinpoint and it changes the impact from "transient" to deeper-rooted and more permanent.
It all depends on how strong is every link in the chain and how deep their pockets are.
