Correct on the monarch vs. republican fronts. While I have not paid close enough attention to decipher whether this was indeed a 'witch-hunt' as you state, it would not in the least surprise me to learn that the entire case was politically motivated.........................nor, however, that former president Trump would readily engage (via proxy?) in a similar action against an opponent if given the chance. While to deceit and underhanded actions have existed in politics (US and global) for as long as politics have existed, I, as a voting US citizen, am ashamed at the behavior of both candidates.

At least the recent debate was of elevated discord. I'm sure we were all happy to have seen both candidates respectfully discuss their differing positions on domestic and geopolitical concerns rather than whip out their 80 year old (radio edit)s and spend 90 seconds arguing about golf handicaps. Sigh. Where are the leaders to whom we can point and say "see kids, that is what you can aspire to be one day"???

What a fascinating (and depressing, to me) topic, on the eve of American Independence Day. You should dig a bit deeper than the first paragraph and see this quote further down (the bolding is mine):

The Constitution can be thought of as a legacy software application that was developed with great intentions but was buggy and highly exploitable from the start. Hence it has needed many patches (i.e. amendments), but has become almost hopelessly hard to maintain and fix - as evidenced by the latest successful breaches and access violations due to use cases never expected or handled by the author(s), not to mention because its current maintainers have very different motives from those of the writers.

You just celebrate end of the world. Democracy. Freedom. What kind of masochizm is this? World of putin puppets, authocrats and right-wing thugs.
