Are the US and UK customer orders aggregated on one ECN, or are they on independent networks; i.e. do UK customers see US customers in the market depth?

Yes much too long, a backup computer logged in and ready to go on a separate connection is key.

Latency shouldn't be an issue, I generally ping about 20ms to the trade server. I do suspect however there may be an issue with how the the broker routes orders out through STP.

Perhaps it was mainly an issue with my broker, but the most recent example I can think of was the ECB intervention in EUR/JPY, I had a small EUR/USD long and rode the wave up 50 pips, I actually tried to take profit somewhere near the middle of the ...

Yes, sweeps outside ranges very often are impossible to hit, as if the prices are indicative only so as to sweep stops, but had no intention to trade there otherwise.

Thank you much, just the answer I was looking for. A 20 minute wave doesn't worry me, should be plenty of time to react and perhaps profit, just those gaps. I suppose I was being overly cautious, I had not considered that the CBs would step in so ...

Of course I never leave a trade unattended, and I love big moves. It's precisely that gap that I can't act on that worries me.

Yes that seems sensible, but then Guerrillawar suggested 1000 pips, so that's quite a range. And if we worry about a 15% move, really makes you reconsider what's safe...

While I'm not necessarily a beginner, I have to disagree. Being prepared for a possible move that could swallow your whole account is one of the first details that should be worked out.

The simple fact is all you were doing was squaring, then reopening the position when the market started moving your way again.

Hi FTI, Thought I might ask while you're here if you don't mind, what is the largest gap you've seen in your career where prices instantly jumped X cents before liquidity could be found? I'm wondering as I'm not quite sure what exposure would be ...

Hedging is the antithesis of speculation...I've never understood how so many people are convinced that there is some magic in "hedging"(net squared positions), and they cannot be persuaded otherwise. Always good for a laugh though.

Even though we are babysitting our trade, what can we do when there is no one to take the other side? If something spooks the market and you can't find a buyer till 5 cents away, all the nimbleness in the world won't save you if you're over exposed. ...

Hi Niels, Yes I was referring to times when the market gaps and there is no liquidity, most commonly seen during news time. Of course I do not trade fig releases, so that cuts down on most the risk right there. The most recent example I can think of ...

This is a question I've struggled with, wondering what sort of spike I should be prepared for. I've generally been risking about 30% of total capital on a 500 pip spike, so ~9-10x leverage at max position size. Although personally I've never seen ...

Please call technical support about the gaps and inability to trade...I called earlier and was told I was the only one to report it yet.

One thing I must say about MB Trading. I keep Oanda as a backup/to use their charts while I trade, and quite frequently on days like this with huge moves I just see the Oanda charts disappear and the platform disconnects. It's nice to have MBT so I ...

I haven't ever posted much here, but I've followed the thread fairly regularly over the years. Just wanted to say thank you fti, for all the knowledge and experience you've shared, and to let you know how much I appreciate having the opportunity to ...

Exactly this. It's amazes me that this can actually be an issue.
