George Soros is more suitable to be classified as investor? or trader? or speculator? I do not think he is trading daily by just looking at the charts & computer screen... & his capital is super huge in any order he made.

You can invest a certain percentage of your free cash (like 10% to 20%) into gold & silver. It is a good hedge of inflation. Money just devalues as time passes due to inflation. Keeping a lot of cash/money in bank will never serve you well.
