The important difference of course is that the SNB move was entirely unexpected and never featured on any economic calendars.

I am instinctively reluctant to leave any positions open overnight for the reasons that you have cited. Furthermore, I would NEVER leave any position open during the weekend when broker platforms are inaccessible. Just imagine the size of a move ...

Are you happy to leave your positions open after the close of play on Friday, even though you will be unable to access your broker platform? What if there is some unscheduled major event that sends EU south at a time when you are powerless to react ...

I find TV Test Card music helps me to stay relaxed when at the trading station.

Hello Max, Happy New Year to you and yours. Do you think the Saudis will allow the price of oil to rise, given that they are trying to talk up production volumes?

I'm glad it's not just me. Happy New Year to you. Are you on Facebook? I have a blog if you're interested. Link is as follows. url

I am having trouble with my Marketscope 2.0 charts today. I keep receiving a message "Failed to load the chart". I have a 4-window chart setup including H8, H1, M15 and M5. The M15 and M5 charts are fine but the H8 and H1 are not loading. Any ideas?

I absolutely agree, Max. I do suspect however that the expected news from both the ECB and the FED has already been priced in to the EU value to some extent, which is why some support is apparent. The much talked about FED rate hike seems to be ...

Nice tight spread on DAX, too (1 pip). I find the DAX tends to lend itself quite well to my preferred strategies. As you say, Max, it sometimes earns the pips much faster than EU as was the case today.

Not a bad day's work, considering it's the last Friday of the month. 18 trades entered and closed; 69 pips earned from EU; 45 from GU; 51 from EJ; 109 from GJ and 19 from UJ. I do like trading the EJ and GJ pairs during the London and NY sessions as ...

I doubt that it will. The very recent upmove is probably just the Far Eastern traders closing their short positions.

Why the Hell would anyone long any EUR pairs right now?! I imagine a few brokers could catch a cold over the weekend gap as well.

I have just read the initial entry to this thread and my initial reaction was that if I was going to watch the charts for 24 hours at a time, I would want to earn a bit more than 25 pips!

'Morning Max. I agree that judging by the recent PA, we will probably see 1.2800 before the downtrend resumes. We'll have to see what Mr. Draghi has to say this afternoon.

If what you say is true, then the retail traders are making the fundamental mistake of adding to a losing position. They need to trade what they see - not what they (wishfully?) think.

Good morning all. All my charts are telling me right now is to stay away from this pair. Price has bounced off the pivot point and seems to be southbound again. However, with the PA in a cloud on the M15 chart suggests indecision and choppiness for ...

Good morning all. There seems to have been some discussion recently on the merits of counter-trend entries. Although I'm sure that there is money to be earned from longs on EUR-USD, without meeting my normal pre-requisites they would be inherently ...

That's why I have trained my wife to trade FX. If I have to leave the trading desk, she can take over until I return.

I don't see a set-up in either direction right now. My H1 and M5 charts are giving me conflicting signals and the PA on my M15 chart is cloud-busting. Given all that, plus the current lack of volume with it being a UK Bank Holiday, I'm leaving EU ...

The boot can be on the other foot if the gap goes against you. Safer to close trades on Friday night and have a relaxing weekend.
