Aldente replied Jun 30, 2011Your right, it isn't that important..just pointing it out. As you say, the important thing is that the system works....but does it really? How can you rely on signals that change completely depending on how far to the right your chart is scrolled, ...

Aldente replied Jun 29, 2011Just fyi the "yarara" indicator is just a renamed indicator that has been around for quite some time called VQ, created by a fellow named Raff and posted on another trading forum quite a few years ago. I suspect that the "montana" indicator is also ...

Aldente replied Sep 16, 2010I didn't specify the nature of the prediction, all I am saying is that prediction is an inherent part of trading. I would also say that predicting how your system will perform has a lot to do with predicting the market, one depends upon the other, ...

Aldente replied Sep 16, 2010How is it different? You say your playing probabilities, but your still predicting that the probabilities will play in your favor. In this case, you are predicting that your wins will be bigger than your losses.

Aldente replied Sep 16, 2010You would think that would be painfully obvious to anyone capable of rational thought. Why are traders so afraid of the word 'predict' anyway? I hear this alot "I don't predict, I react", well what the hell does that mean anyway? You are still ...

Aldente replied Sep 14, 2010I consider S/R trading to be counter-trend, or reversion-to-the-mean type trading. I think, if done properly, it can be profitable. Using a scaling-in or semi-martingale approach can be very helpful in this regard.

Aldente replied Aug 29, 2010Trying to find a consistent edge is fun and challenging. The actual act of trading though, I despise, which is why I've focused 100% of my efforts on automating the process.

Aldente replied Jul 28, 2010I have to make predictions at some level, whether it be on a large scope or a microscopic scope, how can you ever place a trade if you dont? Maybe it is the way we define the word 'predict'. I hear a lot of people say "I dont predict, I react", but ...

Aldente replied Jun 25, 2010I disagree. I think a profitable automated system can be developed, that is purely technical in nature. What I am certain of, is that it would have to be a hell of a lot more complex and comprehensive than anything you will find on a public forum.

Aldente replied Jun 19, 2010I've had similar experiences. I mainly focus on higher timeframes(1h and higher) but I occasionally will drop down to the 1m timeframe. The 15 and 30m timeframes are pretty much just a noisier and watered down version of the 1h to me anyway, but the ...
