I was reading that for forex, Thanksgiving is volatile and the weeks after Thanksgving and before Christmas can also be that way. I don't have experience for that time period so I really don't know.

No I use the open. The only difference between the two seems to be that close will extend the MA to under the current candle. But then the MA flicks back and forth with price on that candle, which I don't like.

Our collective favorite time frame is 5 minute, with 1 minute for entry. However, it can be used on any time frame. For exiting, you can use the rules stated in cobra's first post on this thread or make your own rules. You really have to try it out ...
