zarni replied Jul 18, 2006Yes backtesting on a daily bar with signals that come in at an hour or so past the open it is really innacurate. The only thing you can really do is set the trade times to around 6:30PM EST when you get the vp data and then backtest on hourly. but ...

zarni replied Jul 17, 2006You are right. I usually tend to put all my code in one cell rather than like you so I didn't bother to look further than the first test. My results were similar if i recall correctly. If you are ok with 3 pips a day I guess it could work. My other ...

zarni replied Jul 17, 2006CP, I looked at your file and there is one flaw: you are assuming the predicted low or high was met for the predicted day...that is not always the case. i have already done this test some time ago and if you like i can send you the actual results.

zarni replied Jul 17, 2006You may very well be right...It could be that stupid that nobody even thought to try it. There is maybe some statistical validity to this as markets do tend to range more often than trend....

zarni replied Jul 17, 2006Hey CP, 2006 cannot be said to be the worst year at all. There was a lot of trending up to about mayish timeframe. The problem with this strategy is one the trend is over you start losing. And markets trend approx less than 1/3 of the time....

zarni replied Jul 16, 2006Well I agree with you there may be periods it works..However the periods it doesn't work (and I believe those will come surely), it will blow up. If you notice recently the market does not know where to go. Once we get the trends from before it will ...

zarni replied Jul 16, 2006Guys, sorry but you must be joking right...any system with an SL of 300 cannot be viable...THere will be an inevitable time when it hits 2 or 3 bad trades and that would be it...

zarni replied Jul 15, 2006That's a great idea. You will probably want to write statistics to a file and read from it. Don't know how to do that in MQL. Hope that is possible.

zarni replied Jul 15, 2006Hey mono, I can literally give you 10s of systems that would book similar results with a SL of 300. That is not saying that Phoenix is not good system. I am not knocking the system. Just knocking the method that you are using

zarni replied Jul 15, 2006Hi Mono, thank you for proving that info but do you really think a SL of 300 is viable?? I can essentially make pretty much any system work at near to no loss in the short term. However it takes just a couple bad trades with that kind of system to ...

zarni replied Jul 15, 2006My backtesting shows about 2.0 profit factor. Wonder if it has to do with the trade times. I think it would be much better to set the trade times to broker time rather than local as it would eliminate a lot of confusion.... And not to be a party ...

zarni replied Jul 13, 2006whipsaws are possible...however how would you approach it any differently if you traded it manually. in my opinion straddles are just fine if used right. manual trading cannot match the precision of setting a straddle.

zarni replied Jun 14, 2006You need to be a broker and licensed financial advisor to do this..Why would they go into that business?? Not to mention liability. There is no valid reason why they would do that. The disclaimer is totally to be expected.
