i guess bitcoin wallets are essentially barter apps, but I think for merchants they have to adhere or they risk losing business licenses

gold isnt fungible and has weak medium of exchange and unit of account. Therefor it can never be better money than something like bitcoin. However gold backed crypto is better still not as good.
