That's really strange. I just got update yesterday from Build 1010 to 1012. So i think MetaQuotes still provides support.

I like the Ctrader detachable chart, very convenient. I'm in the process trying to learn their programming language C#. But on the bad side only a few brokers offer CTrader.

Its up to you, I have state it very clear of what happen if you hire another coder to re-write indicators that he/she doesn't understand or knowning how its work.

You must have the mql4 source code in order to convert it to mql5. But i must remind you, it is better to engage with the original coder because even you hire another coder for conversion, the result won't be the same as the original. I have done it ...
