Point might vary between brokers (for example 100 points in broker A = 10 pips while 100 points in broker B = 1 pip) Assuming 100 points = 10 pips then you are correct that 10 lots moving 100 points = USD 1000

It depends on your trading style ...for me since I am intra day and scalper, I follow lower timeframe (for example, if weekly bearish and daily bullish I will be buying)
