My guess: It's Monday.
Somebody understands why the market is so weird and slow today ?
- paul2 replied Oct 23, 2006
I think that hte problem here, with the OP, is that he is going about this backwards. Instead of trying to get 1% a day, try to get 1 good trade a day. If you can make good trades more often than not, your 1% will follow.

My suggestion is to open a demo account on your favorite broker to learn the interface, then go live in a micro account with $500. Consider it tuition money, because you'll probably loose it all. After that account is empty, put another $500 in, and ...

I've already been told by my significat other that if I were to do this full time, I'd need to get an office. She doesnt think she could "stand having [me ]around all the time." Which is okay, because she can be a total bitch.

Very interesting. I'll have to give this a try next week. I tried his EA a while back, made a few mods to it and played around with it a bit, but again I don't know much about MT4 so i stopped. I'll have to give it a go with just the basic EA. Thanks ...

Yup, I love the daily charts MUCH more than the 1h and even the 4h i was trading on before. Talk about pulling hair.... Another month (if i can hold off that long) so I make sure that I have a good "feel" for the system. I've never used MT4 before, ...

Good point. It seems to me that if the technicals are there, then the market has probably already taken the news into account, based on trader speculation or something. I do this too. At work, everytime I'd be in my office I'd check the charts. I'd ...

Use the demo until you get your trading method down, and then switch over to micro lots. Money management is the key to not loosing all of your money. Someone posted earlier about almost everyone blowing out their account at least once. My opinion ...

Nope, as far as I'm concerned it's business as usual. I have a day job and can't be concerned too much with intraday nonsense. If the cross happened a few days before a piece of news comes out, it's probably starting to trend the way it is because ...

FYI, You can set vnc to listen on port 80, or some other port that isn't blocked, and then connect to it that way.

Yeah, for server purposes it's great. I use the built in remote desktop to control a dozen servers at the office. A cool thing about vnc is multiple people can connect to it and watch what you're doing. I've used it in the past to show people how to ...

I think you missed one key element of what I posted. You have control of whether you enter a position or not. Don't open a position and hope luck is on your side.

- paul2 replied Oct 18, 2006
There should be no luck involved in trading. If you're entering a position, hoping that you will get lucky and make some money, then you are doing something wrong. I enter positions expecting to win. Most of the time, I do. If I feel that a position ...

Fozzy- Thank's for your insight. Your method seems to have taken me from wasting time and money on intraday charts to something that fits my 'style' much better. Your work is appreciated. Hope you had a good vacation!

He talked previously about using a percentage of ATR, suggested maybe 70%, for determining stop losses. He also reitterated the fact that you have to use discretion, a raw hard cut number for everything won't work, especially on say slow trending ...

Fucking genius. How obvious is that? I've sat on positions that were clearly loosers, but I figured, well it hasn't hit my stop loss YET... I'm so doing that. I already scale out so to speak, closing 50% and moving s/l to b/e. Never thought about ...
