I very much agree here. MT4 is cr@p, and I am happy that my 3 favourite platforms: IB, Currenex and Oanda have nothing to do with it. There are a lot much better charting packages out there. Charting does not have to come from your broker.

Of course you will; stop orders are market orders per definition. That means guaranteed fill (at the available best price - where a participant is willing to fill your order at that very moment - which is important if you will get out of a bad trade ...
Which MM or ECN brokers can beat Oanda Spread?
- pescador replied Apr 3, 2010
I don't use MT4 (though I have tried and know it) and do not miss it at all. Regarding speed; as long as one cannot drive the same feed through it one cannot really judge its speed. As I told before, the lag mostly comes from the way of displaying ...

I understand what you want to say, but every wannabe should know even before asking these questions, that absolutely everything in life has to be learnt at first. Learning takes time. Learning ANY profession at a level that can be called ...
New study shows only 1% of traders are consistently successful
- pescador replied Apr 3, 2010
This study (and many similar ones) are totally irrelevant for several reasons: 1. Trading conditions were completely different in the 90s 2. All these studies always calculate the percentage of successful traders among ALL traders at all. This is ...
New study shows only 1% of traders are consistently successful

I would say it depends on the way you do it. For me it is way much more profitable and less risky than carry trades. IB's platform is especially good for this kind of trading, because if you build a synthetic pair, you only pay margin once, exactly ...

Is one of my strategies, and I like to do it a lot, but not the main one. My main strategy is synthetic hedging.

Yes, I have used their charting and like it a lot. I also used it for backtesting, but not for automation, because I am more a manual, discretionary trader.

If you need automation with IB BookTrader you could look into AmiBroker with IB feed.

You have to specify which ECN. Your description sounds like MBT... A decent ECN broker has no slippage AT ALL using limit orders. Market order is different per definition. Regarding charting I would say that ProRealTime is your best bet.

Just use Oanda 5sec charts, it is better. If you want something really MUCH better, use IB BookTrader.

FXSpyder is slower than normal Oanda charts. They are not good enough for scalping IMO.

You seem to contradict your first post here, where you complain about the lag in MT4 charts. Oanda charts may be lacking some important features, but generally they are much faster than MT4. Oanda charts are quite usable in calmer market situations. ...

The lag does not come from the feed. It comes from the graphical display.; ie. the way it is done.
Oanda's quick pricing

The speed of executable price movements (NOT the exact price itself!) as one sees it on Oanda quote panel, IB BookTrader or Currenex quote panel is about the same. The lag is more an issue with the charts, depending on how the software has been ...

My suggestions: 1. Use another charting package that is fast, like ProRealTime for example. 2. Keep your MT4 charts for strategic longer timeframes, and enter based on Oanda 5sec charts. Works fine. 3. Try MT4 with an ECN demo feed (like MB ...
