That lack of pressure is a double-edged sword, unfortunately. On one hand we can, indeed, learn without the pressure of the fear of losing money, but when we do begin trading on a live account we are not prepared for that.

Exactly. One should not skip that period of simply learning for the sake of learning.

Because when I trade manually I am in control. Both mistakes and successes are my own. With an EA I can just watch and rely on whoever made the EA.

I think one can learn better from a consize tutorial - many of which can be found online for free - but forums are a great place to ask questions about things you don't understand.

That applies to newbies in every endeavour, but with forex there is a lot of financial interests involved.

I don't know. Usually the idea is to look for a specific trading situation/chart configuration and then to use your strategy.

Obviously demo accounts are also great for testing purposes when you have a wild and weird idea, or just when you want to learn the functions of the software you're using, but one should always take them seriously indeed.

I don't know whether it takes a long time, precisely, not to mention that what "long time" is for different people is a very subjective matter, but still, one should be prepared to spend at least a few months to a few years learning.
