Nico1359 replied Sep 6, 2017So, like an idiot I had forgotten about this announcement and had gone long USD/CAD about an hour beforehand. I had a 15 pip stoploss that completely got blown through. When I finally did get closed out, my stoploss had slipped more than 200 pips ...

Nico1359 replied Sep 5, 2017Depends on what you're looking for/how you trade, I suppose. I've been at Tradersway for a while now and can't really complain. Execution is good. Customer service is ok. Slippage is minimal, even during high impact news.

Nico1359 replied Sep 5, 2017Yeah, but not for me in the US. And I'm yet to find one ECN for US traders that is commission-free.

Nico1359 replied Sep 5, 2017I explained it in the first post. Works out to $0.70 for 0.1 lots.

Nico1359 replied Sep 5, 2017It does make a difference for my trading approach, which is why I trade an ECN broker and not a market maker.
Can we really beat trading costs?
-
Nico1359 replied Sep 5, 2017If your only cost is spread then you are not using an ECN broker. With an ECN, the spread on EUR/USD is virtually non-existent (at this moment it is 0.1 pip). When you trade the approach I do, trading M5 charts and using very tight stops, this is ...

Nico1359 replied Sep 4, 2017I wouldn't be trading with this kind of leverage on any substantial amount of capital. I started this account with $100 knowing that I was going to be trading with awful risk management at the outset because I really don't care if I lose $100. The ...

Nico1359 replied Sep 4, 2017Yes, but... My total commissions plus swaps are -$473.66 My total gross for the year is $1,564.30 (This is from an excel spreadsheet I use. I wasn't trading my current approach last year so factoring that out) -$473.66 / $1,564.30 = -30%

Nico1359 replied Aug 9, 2017I want to believe this, but I'm skeptical. A daytrader can make this many trades in just a month. Who's to say whether or not market conditions have just been favorable for you and you are yet to really be tested? For 2017, I'm net positive over 200 ...
What kind of sample size is ideal?
-
Nico1359 replied Aug 8, 2017Whether you trade the trend or counter-trend, in and of itself, has little bearing on your susceptibility to drawdown. The amount to which you endure drawdown is a function of risk/reward and win rate.
The trend is not your friend...
-
Nico1359 replied Aug 8, 2017I agree with all that. Directional bias (in my opinion) is a different thing than a predictive mindset with the key difference being, as you pointed out, flexibility. Every trend trader has to have directional bias. I just think that those (and ...

Nico1359 replied Aug 8, 2017I know I'm going to come off as a know-it-all by saying this so emphatically, but that statement couldn't be any further from the truth. It is 100% dead wrong and the reason why so many traders never turn the corner. Talk to any successful trader ...

Nico1359 replied Jan 23, 2017This doesn't look like a valid trade to me. Your moving averages are not aligned how the original post stated... for a valid sell it must be 150MA at top, 40MA at middle, 10MA on bottom.
