I think Oanda FXTrade is unreliable

If you have ca. $50 per month to invest, you could try ProRealTime charts. They are java based, very good feed, and a really nice, fast charting software, with advanced features. Otherwise, Oanda charts are quite usable if you get used to them. ...

It seems like your best bet is Oanda. Works great on Macs out of the box. That said, I would not recommend at all using final cut and photoshop on the same machine while trading. iTunes should be no problem.

LOL. As if this was the only reason for the failure of most noobs... Truth is, a good trader can make money both with MMs and ECNs. Blame yourself if you lose, in the first place. Nevertheless, I agree that ECN is a fairer marketplace. But it does ...
I think Oanda FXTrade is unreliable

I would never depend on any one broker anyway. I need at least one backup solution. Whether I trade with IB or Oanda at a certain moment, it depends on the time and the pair I am trading. There are situations and pairs where Oanda is better, and ...
I think Oanda FXTrade is unreliable
- pescador replied May 8, 2010
I can confirm that. I have been scalping Oanda for 3 years and it does work satisfactorily. Though my main broker is IB, and I prefer to trade with IB, Oanda still is a good solution.

In judging liquidity and spread one has be a bit more careful. Tight spread does not automatically mean better liquidity. At certain brokers you may find super tight spreads, but if you see the liquidity at that certain level, maybe you will find ...
What's so special about Dukascopy?
- pescador replied Apr 26, 2010
I'd say phantom liquidity. You will have a hard time finding a broker with better liquidity than IB in the retail segment. Dukas is not institutional level, a wannabe at the most. JMHO

Yes, with IB you can do both. And if you build a synthetic pair, you will not be charged any more margin than you already had for your original trade. Margin is only needed to cover negative balance in a particular currency within your account. For ...
Brokers who let you trade more than one pair on a position?

Range based bars/candles show turning points clearer than time based candles/ OHLC bars IMO. They are better than renko, because renko does not show what is happening exactly within each box, but range bars do, just like the time based ones. I use ...

Best place in the world to trade from?

Depends on one's own strategy. All strategies and all Tfs are justified, if the trader makes (is able to make) it work.

Depends on the liquidity of the instrument at a particular time. Better liquidity than with IB is really hard to find in the retail segment.
Which MM or ECN brokers can beat Oanda Spread?
- pescador replied Apr 7, 2010
So MT4 cr@p again!!! Forget MT4. Their charts and prices do not (though they can sometimes) necessarily correspond to prices at other brokers. Especially not bid/ask prices, that include the spread and is depending on broker, liquidity, etc. Getting ...
Which MM or ECN brokers can beat Oanda Spread?

If you trade a decently liquid pair at normal times with IB you will have immediate execution even with limit orders, without any slippage. Use stop and market orders just for emergency.
Which MM or ECN brokers can beat Oanda Spread?
- pescador replied Apr 6, 2010
Depends on what you want. Oanda's and other MM's "limit orders" are not conform to these names as used on exchanges. They are in reality "market-if-touched" orders. With true limit orders with ECNs and exchanges you have price guarantee (same or ...
Which MM or ECN brokers can beat Oanda Spread?

I very much agree with this. Charts help to anticipate (but not to preview!!!) movements, and entry data feed gives confirmation and shows momentum. This is one of the reasons I love BookTrader (DOM)

I don't quite understand what this all has to do with scalping? Maybe you want to say "do not scalp using lagging MT4 charts with Oanda execution", the thing that jimbil tries to do. In this case I have to agree. There are much smarter options to ...
