FX-Flux replied May 14, 2016Now I understand I will have a go at coding this as well. Are you having trouble writing it or does it take too many bad trades?

FX-Flux replied May 14, 2016Im sorry, this should be 1M - EURUSD and the startTradeAm and endTradePM should be 23 and 23 - my terminal is GMT+2 as well so you will need to adjust or just optimise until you find the correct hours. And you need my modified version of this indy - ...

FX-Flux replied May 14, 2016Oh!!! I think i understand now. So we are looking back at the previous painted dots, setting those as our entry points and then looking for the closest opposite colour as the stop loss. I feel stupid now....

FX-Flux replied May 14, 2016I'm still unsure when to actually enter a trade with this. I know you say place your sell stop loss on the blue line, does that mean you enter a sell trade as soon as a red dot forms?

FX-Flux replied May 9, 2016You're right. Would you say this is the same for trading manually though? If you started trading and didn't make any money for 4 years you would probably stop. As for testing this EA I should probably have a look at 2004-08 and see what it was doing. ...

FX-Flux replied May 8, 2016I regularly check the moving average values of higher timeframes to make decisions in my EAs: iMA(SymbolArray[i],PERIOD_H1,MATrendPeriod[i],0,MODE_LWMA,PRICE_MEDIAN); PERIOD_H1 may be set to NULL which will use the current time period on the chart ...

FX-Flux replied May 8, 2016No martingale or anything like that. I believe those may be trades that were mainly all positive and then got stopped out or the other way round - i don't believe all trades go in the desired direction straight away, they may go negative before ...

FX-Flux replied May 8, 2016I programmed the EA to do calculations on higher time frames and use 1m OHLC for testing. I find that as this is not looking to take small profits or losses it is perfectly acceptable to use the control point method for backtesting. I think most of ...

FX-Flux replied May 8, 2016You can use multiple time frames in your test. I think they way the ea checks back through the history may be the problem - looking too far back when it doesn't need to. As this EA was built using a generator it will be very difficult for any of us ...

FX-Flux replied May 8, 2016Yeah you can do that on MT4, you set your EA to do calculations on higher timeframes and then feed it lower timeframe data. Well i thought i would try my strategy on XAUUSD, all i did was change the TP and SL to suit the point value of Gold, and the ...

FX-Flux replied May 8, 2016It is true that the market will behave differently now, how far back would you consider as relevant? Because during backtesting there may be no point going back so far.
