Here's a list of old trader sayings I created a few years ago. Some are repetitive, some are contradictory. Perhaps worth the time to read. I'll let the reader decide. Feel free to add to the list or discuss if you like: Gaps Usually close. Always ...

Yes, I do look at the COT report from time to time. Things like the COT and strength of currencies charts and various fundamental data reports help to clarify my macro picture of the markets. If for instance there was a large position taken by large ...

Cashing in profits today. A fantastic start to the year and just going to exit with my profits and relax a bit. Planning to attempt to increase lot size when I re-enter. That's one of the most difficult things to do. The risk is always that we make ...

Yes, the red lines below my EU short trades are TP lines. I always put on a wide TP, but I often take profit before it's hit. I tend to widen the TP as I trade. It's ok to widen it anytime. Sometimes a spike hits a TP for a big fast profit though. ...

Is the fall of the EU over? Technicals say maybe not. See the Monthly channel below. I've taken a little more than +2,500 pips profit off this one, cashing in the oldest 4 lots. Still carrying 7 lots short on it. image

Perhaps that day I was concentrating on lower timeframes for entries, or I just misspoke. I do usually start at the higher timeframes and work down. Generally, when working down the timeframes, when I come to the first trend that is opposite those ...

The dollar has been strengthened by the US Fed announcing a reduction in QE. As the FED quits printing trainloads of USD's, it's value will go up because of it's status as the world's reserve currency. Many international debts (like oil) are settled ...

I rarely have the problem of technical influencing my view of fundamentals, or visa versa. I try to keep a very open and flexible mind. There are 2 possibilities. Either technicals and fundamentals disagree, in which case I don't take the trade, or ...

Thanks! I've scanned my pairs and see no good new entries today. I do have an EG short trade I entered a week ago, and I've added a third lot to it today. It's up about +400 pips total, but I don't have great confidence in it. It met all my entry ...

It doesn't matter how much you trade. It only matters how you trade. The same principles apply to a hedge fund or a micro account. You manage your risk first, then you make the money. If he'd blown out a few $3,000 micro funds before trying to trade ...

Yep, exited at 121.371 on Dec 5. That was a preset TP near the top of the old 2003 and 2007 highs. It went up just a little more after my exit, then crashed. I don't usually try to pick tops and bottoms. I had set that wide TP when I took the trade ...

Yes, I am moving the stop up slower for these longer duration trades. The longer the duration of the trade, the slower we need to move the stop. I hinted earlier why this is required. Good question. I intend to discuss this further going forward.

My last UJ trade was taken off for 500 pips profit on Dec 5, 2014. I'm thinking you meant the UCad trade. I'm still in that trade. I have 7 lots long and it's up +3000 pips total. SL is at 1.1874, so it is widened to +450 pips at the moment. I'll ...
