I did not read that book. Anyway, I think it may be fine in solid trend as well with some modification, if you only enter in the direction of the trend. Of course, very very risky.

Just for fun! This is my settings: BBands (144,2.0) and MACD (12,26,9) Tactics for SELL: if price quits from Bollinger upward and then MACD crosses downward. BUY: vica versa. Close at opposite side of Bollinger.
