Perhaps, but the die is cast. The next move by the US Fed will be to tighten. The question is when? There are many considerations. Generally, tightening is most effective when it is small and early. The Fed might decide to soften the blow a bit my ...

Oh sure, that's fine. I was just debating on whether or not to chime in. I may be wrong, but I don't see that anything has changed yet with the EU trade. It's still trending down longer term and the Euro's fundamentals are still very weak and the ...

Here is a quote from Post #98 in September 2014: "...(It's) not hard at all to learn why the Eur/Usd has been trending down for the past several months, dropping about 900 pips since May 2014. The European banking problems and high unemployment has ...

In my opinion, spikes are only killers if you are just considering that one trade. I've been spiked out of many trades and made huge pips overall on the pair over time. Price is just one thing. If it's trending in one timeframe, it is moving the ...

Thanks Spydie, it's a journey. Taken from the beginning, it should lead to some pips at the end. It's good to know you are getting something out of it all. Welcome aboard! G

I've put this chart up before, I believe it answers most of your questions. I'd advise you to plot it yourself and study it a bit. I've already discussed all my thoughts about trends in previous posts, but I'm always happy to talk about trends, ...

Yes, the question is, do I do better, worse, or just the same trying to enter after the completion of a retracement? I don't have any good testing data on that, but it seems I often avoid entering on a peak price by waiting to after a retracement ...

Yes, I agree. Things start to get very risky at the 4th lot and above. We need a clear understanding of the risks involved with multi-lot trading to mitigate those risks and still gain the benefit from the method. Widening the spacing or just plain ...

No, I usually don't directly use ATR, but the more volatile the pair the wider the spacing I'd use. Typically my spacing will be around 50 to 100 pips. I'll usually start out with a tighter spacing like 50 or 75 pips and widen it as I go.

When to hold 'em and when to fold 'em (Part 3.) Note that in the above considerations I assumed that the trader would allow price to retrace all the way to the stops to exit. Of course, that isn't optimal trading. In the best trading, we would ...

There are really 3 single unit lots in this initial entry. It's a bit confusing since the first lot is taken off for 75 pips profit. The two that go on next are each single unit lots that go on one at a time. The second was placed on with a 75 pip ...

When to hold 'em and when to fold 'em (Part 2.) In Part 1 we discussed how to get the first two lots on a multi-lot trade taking minimum risk. Basically, if you are trying to put lots on with a 75 pip sl, then after the first lot is +75 pips, take ...

So, you managed to get into good trades, held on until you were 2,500 pips ahead, but tried to ride out a retracement and wound up with a loss. I know that can be disappointing, but let's not give up. It sounds like you did two things right, getting ...

Ouch! I was stopped out of a good position in GA Long with the NFP swings. Oh well, trading is risky. I knew that. It really can't be avoided. There is no stop that can't be hit and trading without a stop is just plain crazy. It's just part of doing ...
