I disagree on this one. I have seen oanda winden spreads on the bid side many times when the price is still on other brokers. Here is an example: image

Aren't the flash news supposed to come out 2 mins before? Now that I read the news description it doesn't say that anymore. Has it changed?

Remember guys, "this is not the FOMC you are looking for"
The real FOMC mover is the FOMC statement. Minutes move the market also but not that much.Central Banks & Big Players

This should be an alarm bell that your broker is a market maker and not the honest type at that. Oanda has no minimum distance. They are a market maker too but I think the most trusted one among market makers. ECN brokers usually allow 2-0 pip SL ...

Yeah I have a small account there to trade the big news but I'm straddling the news so for 90% of the news are untradeable in oanda because of the spreads eating the move. But oanda is absolute killer with max 15 pip spread and no slippage during ...

It doesn't. Orders get executed the same way even if your computer is shut down. Worst that I have experienced was when my order got triggered before NFP in the wrong direction and then shot up. My SL was slipped 6 pips but it would have been 40 in ...

There is some, but just a little what I have experienced. During NFP I got 50 pip slippage on ECN broker and only like 16 in oanda. But for the smaller news like todays Flash news, there is maybe 1 or 2 pip slippage.

That won't help to the slippage problem. You will get lower latency from your vps to the broker, but the line from broker to the liquidity providers is the bottle neck. Pending orders are executed even if you have placed your stop and closed your ...

Well I did my research and I have traded it before and I have never seen such a calm reaction.Central Banks & Big Players

Remember guys FOMC has a history of massive whipsaw = massive slippage is possible. I would lower your lots if you are gonna trade this. I'm gonna sit this one out this time.

Slippage in ECN brokers occurs when you want to buy but there is no one to buy from. What makes it even worse is that institutions have 0.001 ms execution or something ridiculous like that so they eat up ALL the sell orders from you. Every ECN ...

What currency pair were you trading? I would have had 50-60 pip slippage on EUR/AUD @ admiral markets but luckily my software had a bug and it didn't open my orders

Usually comes with Core Retail sales or something else. I had traded it once before when it was alone and there was no effect then either so decided to stay out this time.

Just remember that demo accounts don't have slippage. That might come as a surprise when you move to real money account

I traded it last month and it only moved 8 pips and the difference between actual and forecast was the same last month. I think this time was an exception and the big guys just wanted to take down any resistance above and used this news to do that. ...

Well 10 pip spread with 20 pip slippage is worse than 20 pip spread with no slippage.
But anyway I agree with you and I only trade oanda for NFP (15 pip spread with no slippage).Central Banks & Big Players
- Electry replied Feb 19, 2014
Oanda has always had 20 pip spread on basicly any GBP news so that's nothing new but usually they go down after 1min but this time they stayed 20 pips for 18min after the news, that's the issue here.

I don't understand why are you guys freaking out so much (if you didn't loose money). It was clearly a bug in the code and not done on purpose and I am quite certain that broker that old and stabile will refund all traders money who lost money due ...

I believe because new updates came from metatrader they had to change some code and there was a bug. But if Oanda has been working 100% for the last 10 years, I don't think you should be that worried Tony. I'm sure they corrected the code and it ...
