I interpret clearly cross as close above or below sma 5. On a Sunday night all markets should be closed already unless maybe if you are in West Coast USA and NZ may have already open for Monday

Works for commodities too. Shorted wheat today after the candle closed below SMA5 yesterday. It helps that wheat is in a down trend for a while already and is continuing down after a couple of days of pullback.
