davelansing replied Aug 1, 2023Thanks guys!
@LazyTrades, yeah, I would only hedge trade pairs paying me swap, but currently Oanda doesn't have pairs that, when combined, are paying positive swap AND have strong correlated price moves. DaveGrid-Hedge Reboot #3

davelansing replied Jul 15, 2023edit: "...and still open trades based on the "fastest" moving pair- which means opening NZDUSD buy trades only on AUDUSD and/or NZDUSD up moves and opening AUDUSD sell trades on AUDUSD and/or NZDUSD down moves as long as the minimum pip differential ...
Whats wrong with following twist to the grid or and Martingale?
-
davelansing replied Jul 14, 2023Hi Simon, When that happens my trade size was small enough to "wait out" the uncoupling (for AUDUSD/NZDUSD the uncoupling can last a few months using daily data as input and a lookback of 100 days) and still open trades based on the "fastest" moving ...

davelansing replied Jul 10, 2023No offense, but actually, price doesn't "retrace" to anything except to previous price levels. A moving average is just that... a mathematical calculation of the price range over a N period of previous bars. Current price retracing to an MA is ...
M5 Mean Reversion Strategy

davelansing replied Jun 22, 2023I think that both approaches are useful. The only issue with averaging down is that you can get into prolonged periods where you keep adding trades during a ongoing period of price movement against your trade basket (assuming you're not limiting ...
The Myth of Averaging

davelansing replied Jun 22, 2023image Hey Yoriz, I looked closer at the TP/SL for each level. According to your 5th post, whenever a new trade is opened, the TP/SL for each previously opened trade is reset to the TP/SL used for the new level based off the entry price of the new ...
The Myth of Averaging
-
davelansing replied Jun 21, 2023Yoriz, Exciting! What if you increase the number of levels to 4? To 5? It would be interesting to determine if there is an optimal number of levels - i.e., do you get a Poissen distribution? Also, with three levels and higher TP/SL, I suspect that ...

The Myth of Averaging
-
davelansing replied Jun 18, 2023To me, the really good news of your analysis is that the time of trade isn't unique to one particular entry time; it appears that the "method" is robust for entries between 6 and 18. Dave
The Myth of Averaging

davelansing replied Jun 18, 2023Hi Yoriz, I take a similar approach to data analysis (Monte Carlo approach per parameter change) but use Amibroker and Excel. Not quite as elegant as yours though... Looking forward to your next installment! Best, Dave
The Myth of Averaging

davelansing replied Jun 18, 2023Yeah, but its ONLY a personal preference based on MY analysis. I could never develop a positive expectancy trading approach using bar patterns, specifically as it relates to identifying trends. Trend analysis, to me anyways, always looks great ...

davelansing replied Jun 18, 2023Hi aalaarajy, As I described in posts#13 and #17, to open an AUDUSD sell trade, EITHER the AUDUSD OR NZDUSD has to move down by 100 pips over the two days. Likewise, to open a NZDUSD buy trade, EITHER the AUDUSD OR NZDUSD has to move up by 100 pips ...
Whats wrong with following twist to the grid or and Martingale?
-
davelansing replied Jun 18, 2023Yeah, I've done a lot of statistical analysis on two to five bar patterns and could never find any correlation between a certain pattern and positive expectancy (after taking account of swap and spread). I also did analysis of uptrends and ...
