You've misunderstood...again. The poster understands hedging, and so I agreed with him. He was not talking about going long and short at the same time, we don't call that hedging in the industry, we call that an idiot retail trader.

Yes. You are streets ahead of most on this thread. Real hedging is a position taken to reduce risk. Buying put options when long is an example but not the only possibility.
