Why do they happen, and what is their purpose?

im probably just crazy — But, last week when the qqe 4H crossed above 50 the 1H qqe was way above 50, so according to the rules we need a retrace of 1h and 1h crosses 50 again before we enter trade long, right?

400 pip gap — The gap seems to be a 50% retrace of last weeks up trend, anyone think it will fill and continue to 198 to fill old gap and complete 50% retrace of big down trend or am i just crazy?
