IMO, the IMF statement itself, while in essence comes to the right conclusion, also has inconsistencies; or there is simply not enough information available to tie the loose strands together.
You should actually read the IMF's memo on the Greece bailout. It's horrific

On Germany's economic outlook: url There are many who make similar points, from within Germany and Europe as well, namely: 1. Aging population, with significant skill shortages already. 2. Immigration will help, but there will be an issue of ...
Greeks to be furious when government chops up country for fire sale
- Collector commented Jul 14, 2015
"Hang together or hang separately." IMHO, the issue in this regard is whether Europe will allow it's individual member nations, regardless of size, to remain substantially equal, independent and sovereign as compared to only being allowed to "hang ...

Greeks to be furious when government chops up country for fire sale
- Collector commented Jul 14, 2015
Yes, Greece did tend to over-indulge and live beyond their means, particularly pre 2009, but when three countries in trouble (Greece, Spain and Italy) have similar national statistics relating economic performance to demographic changes and trends, ...

You can bet your boots that the banks, including central banks, will play a part in manipulating the Euro markets. It will be interesting to see the extent to which they will have conflicting interests. I know what I would like to see, but I will ...

As I have said earlier, it seems as if Greece was being primed as a scapegoat in the development and implementation of (a) mechanisms whereby supposedly errant states could be disciplined and (now, it seems,) managed. Now we know this as the ESM. ...
Greece is being treated like a hostile occupied state

I see a big rukus coming, if not now then, predictably, later. Better than watching TV I'm not so sure the 60% didn't comprehend what they were voting for. I saw some Greeks being interviewed in the run-up to the referendum and thought their answers ...
Greece is being treated like a hostile occupied state
- Collector commented Jul 13, 2015
Albeit inadvertently. This telegraph article is best thing I have read to date on the current state of affairs. As I have already posted, it is interesting that the 19 EZ nations voted unanimously. Did they really know what they were doing? There ...
Greece is being treated like a hostile occupied state

What should Greece's parliament do? I have just heard two Greek citizens being interviewed on CNN, who seem to be under no illusions about what this means. They did not express an opinion regarding what their parliamentarians should do, but you ...
‘Grexit’ avoided after ‘aGreekment’ is sealed, say eurozone leaders
- Collector commented Jul 13, 2015
Yes it does. The chief question being: Is this the sort of Europe, Europeans want? The rest of the world also needs to ask whether it wants to be (even more) contaminated by this type of abuse of power. Ask yourself, is it really just the front-line ...
‘Grexit’ avoided after ‘aGreekment’ is sealed, say eurozone leaders
- Collector commented Jul 13, 2015
What is interesting is that the vote was unanimous. It looks like the Germans and their tight cabal of mostly newcomers to the EZ, got there way inasmuch they seem to be well on their way to achieving a mechanism to wield at supposedly errant ...
Tsipras says "we fought a tough battle"

Schaeuble let the cat out of the bag recently (can't find the reference now) regarding what may be his and others' main reason for pushing the Greece exit line. They have been concerned for some time now that, because of long standing doubts about ...

Finland's parliament in favour of forcing Greece out of the euro, says report
- Collector commented Jul 12, 2015
I agree. Greece has played this very cannily. especially since it became clear that the Germans, Dutch, Lithuanians and perhaps a few others became very evasive on debt relief. The Institutions and these countries now face a number of fall-outs if ...
Greece debt crisis: EU summit cancelled as talks continue
- Collector commented Jul 11, 2015
The Eurozone will be hoping that the markets and the rest of the world will swallow their version of events. We will have to see whether this make it to the 28 member full European parliament later today. Bloomberg is not the best at giving a ...
Greece Talks Spill Into 2nd Day as Finance Chiefs Deadlock
- Collector commented Jul 11, 2015
At the end of the day, if Europe, led as it is by a bunch of pseudo-democrats (ie neo-fascists) and unelected Eurocrats, can't reform itself from within, how much do we really care whether it succeeds? In this configuration, it is surely a danger to ...
Crippled Greece yields to overwhelming power as deal looms
- Collector commented Jul 11, 2015
Goldman Sachs was one of Greece's creditors and was bailed out by the ECB, which then palmed off that and other debts onto Europe's tax-payers. That could be a reason Europe's leaders don't want to open that can of worms.
