poundforex replied Jan 25, 2010I can't remember how far back you can go, but you can go a long way back on EUR/USD and GBPUSD on Metatrader, you have to fiddle and download and switch timeframes if I remember right, I do remember running a 10 year test on an EA I'd written so ...

poundforex replied Jan 25, 20102 % a day is far from outrageous, I try and average about 1%, even 5% is believable to me, I used to have days where you'd get a 10% return, but now I only trade 6 - 10 hours a week.

-
poundforex replied Jan 25, 2010Ah yes, spent a lot of time developing EAs, I stopped when I designed one that was indeed quite simple and showed a profit over about 10 years with a most amazingly smooth profit line, I think from something like 2000 to 2008 and then all of a ...
Back testing...is it a waste of time?

poundforex replied Jan 25, 2010I can't help but think that this 10:1 leverage is a hoax, a bit like the one about not having stop loss last year sometime.

poundforex replied Jan 24, 201015 PIPS a week — I've attached a spreadsheet so that we can see exactly what's possible, jzw is bang on, consistency and compounding, the thing with getting consistency is it takes all the stress out of it. The spreadsheet is based on a 50:1 ...

poundforex replied Jan 24, 2010I see that the 'if only' problem is creeping into this system, I used to do it all the time, I'd start off with something simple then would had to add something e.g. only trade the signals after one more confirmation, then that keeps you out of too ...

poundforex replied Jan 24, 2010Compounding is key to more profits, a 4% increase on 4% on 4% is one heck of a lot more than 2% on 2% on 2% etc. yes risk is important just as money management is, but I think that's another thread just as how much time you spend trading, if I spend ...
Realistic Account Growth?
-
poundforex replied Jan 23, 2010Yes, 29% - that's good, I think anything up to 100% is possible, but after 50% you are really pushing it, if you can't make 15%+ a month, you are doing something wrong.
