So you don't think they can make an artificial neural net with 2 quadrillion connections? If you agree the only difference is the number of connections, then we are on the same page. Lets just buy tons of off the shelf PC parts and make a giant ...

Well, can nature duplicate what is found in nature? Are humans part of nature? Anyway, I think you are getting into a spiritual arguement, and if that's what you beleive then I probably can't convince you. As for the example of chess, there is a ...

I don't think it has anything to do with creativity. It has to do with the time it would take to train a computer. I have no doubt even with todays technology that there could be a computer in the form of a neural net that could beat any human chess ...

I think markets will behave more wildly when automated trding becomes a perfect science. Personally I think there is already a lot of automated trading going on and it is proving a success. I wouldn't count on this trend reversing and going the way ...

I don't think the unemployment numbers include people who don't want to work. So you can get a negative NFP without the Unemployment claims number giving a hint by having lots of retired people, or just taking a break from working without filing ...

They have only been reporting their number for a year, but they have been a big name in the payroll biz for ages and I'm sure they have plenty of data about all those checks they have been generating.

I use neoticker. I'm not sure what other products have the ability. I suppose it would be possible to code an indicator to display momentum bars if the software didn't ship with it.

The momentum bars are not time based. A new bar is created only after price has moved up or down a certain amount. I attached a GBP/USD chart from 12/13 from around 2:30am PST. The 2nd chart is time based for comparison (no indicator). This was ...

I've been checking out CCI plotted from momentum bars and they look really promising. The trend line breaks are freakishly accurate.

Did you ever think that other traders using different time periods and or different MAs were getting signals to buy when your signal said sell (and vice versa) It told them something. Anyway my point is that it can tell you something but the problem ...

Soros needed everyone on the bandwagon. You can't do it alone. Check out the Dukascopy site, there's between 150M and 200M traded per every pip of price change on the EUR/USD right now. If you use their demo you can see all the orders lined up. ...
moving the market
- Keys replied Aug 24, 2006
Well, not the market. The market hasn't really changed the retail brokers have. I opened up a new account this week with a different outfit which is ECNish. I wouldn't blame them if they were upfront about it like a casino. Basically they don't want ...
Broker Complaints …Get over it!

That lengthy explaination doesn't really address what people are complaining about. Everyone knows extreme volatility yadaa yadaa. What people are complaining about is outrageous spreads when there is no volatility. These retail brokers are 10+ pips ...

I don't buy this lack of liquidity arguement. I just don't see how liquidity is drying up all of a sudden. The way I see it there is a vast source of liquidity out there. Probably a lot already being used in forex, but there is a lot more resources ...

I'm using oanda. Spreads have been a little iffy lately. Just stick with EURUSD and it's OK. Today it went to 7.5pip spread, which I can deal with grudgingly. Yesterday was OK for the PPI release only 3.5pips. Atleast I get filled and they don't ...
Feelings about CPI
- Keys replied Aug 16, 2006
I usually do the straddle, but I think I'll just go long EURUSD and place a stop and reverse incase the dollar gets strength. I figure it will take a big surprise to prevent the action from PPI from having some "follow-through".
Feelings about CPI
- Keys replied Aug 15, 2006
I've haven't looked at it in detail with historical data, but it seems even if there is strong news on PPI, the market reaction is a bit muted because CPI is the next day. If CPI is strong in the same direction then the market will react.
How do you trade news?
- Keys replied Aug 9, 2006
Lucky, the spread went to 8 pips with Oanda. What a rip. I'd understand if there really was some volitility on this one.
