Moody replied Nov 3, 2010If prices move, there is opportunity for profit. It really just depends. You'll probably grow tired of hearing this phrase. My strategy is trend following on a short time frame. My advice for someone who isn't sure what to do: 1) Read a book on the ...

Moody replied Nov 3, 2010I've considered using options for risk management before, but here's why I don't: 1) You pay a premium for the option. I'd just scale back in the trade and take the premium cost out of the amount you're willing to lose to reduce risk. 2) Options are ...

Moody replied Nov 3, 2010Depends on the trade. When I algorithmically trade, I use a fixed quantity which scales up or down depending on outstanding gains/losses. For discretionary, I have an amount I'm willing to lose, and I wait for the trade to fall into a "zone" in ...

Moody replied Nov 3, 2010Yeah I'd definitely be skeptical about that. However, there are some prop shops out there that will take a deposit and give you "leverage" by adding to your account. You typically have to be a licensed trader to do that though.
