bluebuddha replied Nov 10, 2007GBPUSD chart shows 89,55,34 pips between each level, and the EURUSD, while not having perfect fib. numbers, does have a ~1.618 ratio between all these levels. Yeah, I'd go with some combination of pivot point (ie: lines based on a central point and ...

bluebuddha replied Nov 10, 2007I tried the demo of ButtonTrader and SuperDOM (part of NinjaTrader), but I found ButtonTrader too busy for me. I'm probably going to use NinjaTrader because of the other features as well, such as charting, programmable features, MM analysis, etc. ...

bluebuddha replied Nov 9, 2007That, and program the broker's number in your phone, and write down your account# somewhere easily accessible. While most online brokers don't like taking orders over the phone, they will dump your positions on the market if you ask them to.

bluebuddha replied Nov 8, 2007I like to play around with this thing once in a while. It's not an entirely accurate simulation, as it's not likely your wins and losses are going to be the exact same size every time you trade. However, it's a nice approximation of what to expect, ...

bluebuddha replied Nov 7, 2007Yep... this is the big reason to start using FX futures, if and when your account is at least $5k-$10k. Spot market data will even vary between one ECN broker and another, because each one of them deals with a different set of banks. A centralized ...

bluebuddha replied Nov 7, 2007It's theoretically impossible for the dollar to hit zero... it's not like the US is a company that will file for Chapter 11 when the shit hits the fan. As for hyperinflation... that's a possibility, but it will spell disaster for the global economy ...

bluebuddha replied Nov 7, 2007That looks like a screenshot from EFX... right? Anyway, I think they do it in 10k sizes (mini lots). There may be a setting to change that or at least tell you what the size is somewhere in the help section. As for Level II quotes, what you ...

bluebuddha replied Nov 7, 2007I've heard good things about them when I traded futures, as a lot of people preferred them as a broker. However, they have lower leverage and maximum order sizes than EFX, and their platform is much to be desired. IB has been in the API business ...

bluebuddha replied Nov 7, 2007Last time I traded futures contracts was with the S&P minis and Dow minis. I saw orders of up to 200 contracts get filled at least a few times every minute. A contract in FX futures is 125,000 units of currency. Granted, I haven't looked at the ...

bluebuddha replied Nov 6, 2007Looks like it finally punched through that 167.00 level that it has been bouncing around all day. The EUR/USD shot up about 100 pips around the same time. Maybe Soros decided to put in his order to switch USD for EUR.

bluebuddha replied Nov 6, 2007Some days, you just want to set a TP & SL, cross your fingers, and go make some coffee. EUR/JPY has been refusing to get anywhere near the 167.00, so I decided to short for a few pips more when it looked like it turned around... but man, did it take ...

bluebuddha replied Nov 6, 2007A few things I look for and set-up: -- Look at a longer term chart (ie: 30 sec thru 5 min) with a rainbow on it to both get a sense of larger trend and S/R levels. I prefer to use 1 min. You don't have to refer to it often, as it changes slower. -- ...

bluebuddha replied Nov 5, 2007I think after 20 or 30 losses in a row (never mind 40), I'd give up trading and buy a lottery ticket... after all, the chances are astronomical (assuming 50% W/L rate, 1 in a million for 20 in a row, and 1 in a billion for 30 in a row).
Can you handle 40 losses in a row?
