I just tried your EA for the first time on this news release. It all worked okay, except both orders were opened with 0.01 lots, when I set the lot size in the EA to 1.0 lots. Any idea why? This was on IC Markets.

Just looking at the code, I think the calls to Hour() should be changed to TimeHour(TimeCurrent()) to work as intended. Hour() just returns the hour when the EA was first started, not the current server time.

It is very hard to test a black box, especially one that we can't back test properly. I have written a couple of cost averaging systems with multipliers in the past but usually run two opposing grids and not worried about trying to predict ...

Have you considered rewriting this for cTrader where you are not limited to sending (or closing) one order at a time?

No, I don't have a recommendation, all I'm saying is download cTrader so you can see the level 2 price data and see if they have the liquidity to fulfill your needs.
IC Markets
- skoda2008 replied Nov 25, 2014
That's rather subjective don't you think? They have tight spreads but the liquidity is often pretty thin at the top, so depending on what "big" actually is you may get slipped a fair bit. I wouldn't say they play games though.

Personally I don't have any problems with IC Markets on Live Server 01. Maybe ask to be transferred to a different server? It's also a good idea to remove all quotes from the watchlist of any instruments you're not actually following - it can really ...

The spread may be the same but you cannot simulate slippage, it depends on where your order sits in the queue. I wouldn't even bother demo trading a news and/or scalping scalping system, you will be lulled into a false sense of security. Just open a ...

Quite considerable, in the last couple of weeks at least. I have been doing exactly that and have been taken out of a lot trades at "break even", which actually means -$5.50 per lot. It really adds up, and I am struggling to break even.

I think you're doing it the right way, but I get the impression a lot here aren't. The problem is, I have noticed that a lot of the time the price will only just get over 5 pips on the chart (bid price) by the time you add on the 0.6 pips commission ...

Yep, despite what you will read here, "Two wins, 2%, done for the day", it is simply not true. If you risk 2% per trade and have to pay $5.50 commission per round turn lot, two wins of 5 pips will get you 1.7% for the day. ie. Two wins does not ...

I also watch EURAUD, but don't see when it met the criteria, unless you entered hours ago?

Do you mean EURAUD or trading with the EA? I don't see any EURAUD trades in the last couple of hours.

If that is all there is to the system, then you do realise the previous three candles would have also met that criteria throughout the hour and two of them then turned around and went the wrong way - don't you?
