Resurrection of an old post. The retest of bar open prices still seems to be a thing. The question is when to safely enter to minimize draw-down.

And why enter at this point specifically? Short term lower high?

What made you enter these trades? The blue line was holding as support. Is it not better to wait for a break and retest?

The channel breached the ADR twice during that trade. How were you feeling during that time and how close did you get to exiting? Where was your SL when you opened the trade?

Thanks Laura, can you explain briefly what those 2 indicators show.

Laura, is the slope of the 200 important. Would you have taken this long as the channel crossed? I notice that both the 15m and 1hr were below the SMA so if we do a MTF analysis perhaps a long was risky.

Hi Laura, you've said before that you may often exit trades partially to let runners run. Do you hold positions overnight? If so, how do you manage the trades, do you rely on your emergency stop or do you tighten it?

Cool, so take this for example. Nice opportunity in the peach box. Target would be lower ADR. Where would you put the emergency stop?

The further away it is, the smaller the trade size (to keep a fixed risk %) and thus a smaller potential return. Hence the question. From an R:R view it would make sense to have the stop at say 60 pips away if you knew that within about 30 or so ...

Question - emergency stops. How far away? Beyond opposite ADR, or maybe smaller and beyond the next key level (prev h/l, or open) ?

Hi Laura, I see several people are finding ways to get "better entries" by adding such things as various different MAs. Being that you have used this method successfully for several months/years? what is your message in regards to trying to curve ...

Umm not sure. Surely a 'failure' is the same as a counter because if price returns to previous side, it is also reverting to mean?

Hi Laura, just been reading through your journal. Can you help clarify a question I have on your advanced type trades: The four advanced strategies are: 1. ADR Failures - When the EMA channel gets partially across the ADR line but then returns to ...

Hi Laura, your thread looks interesting and I am just starting to go through it. I have a question on one of your first charts. Why did you not treat the circled area as the bounce off of yesterdays high, and then enter at the blue line. Why did you ...

Great observation. I mentioned earlier in the thread something I'm using as a filter which seems to have potential... Only trading in direction of most recent Daily fractal. I'm using that as a bias, and trading 1hr with 15min entry.

Filtering: I thing I am forward testing is only taking trades in the direction of the most recent 123 fractal on the daily. This removes those trades that are fighting against the daily bias.
