robots4me replied May 14, 2019@pet3250 -- interesting. I've been focused on coding the indicator and haven't given much thought as to trading implications. With the indicator now in hand, it should be fun to experiment a bit. As you suggest, some interesting observations may ...

robots4me replied May 14, 2019Hello @rosalieone -- the wicks (i.e. high and low ticks) do take away from the meat. However, the line chart shows only the Close tick at a particular timestamp. So, visually it may appear there is meat left behind when there really isn't.

robots4me replied May 14, 2019@pet3250 -- thanks for the good word. Yes -- very interesting. And I wish to always give credit to @George. If it wasn't for his thread and his willingness to chat with me (even after my insults) I would still be muddling around. Actually, I'm still ...

robots4me replied May 14, 2019Hello @aaven -- good question. I can't say for sure, but I would answer 'no' -- for the following reasons: 1. There is no such thing as 'Close'. There is no official 'Close' price. 'Close' is the name given to the last tick prior to the beginning of ...

robots4me replied May 14, 2019Hello @rosalieone -- no need to apologize for fuzzy explanations. This is all good stuff. And it's difficult to carry on a discussion like this with pictures and posts. That is one reason why @George preferred chatting in person. What he could ...

robots4me replied May 14, 2019Hello @rosalieone -- yes, it would be possible, but I'm not sure that I understand. Using the line chart then it is easier to see how the price pulls back after it has eaten into the LG. That pull back is due to unfilled orders that have now been ...

robots4me replied May 14, 2019@aaven, @iwjw -- another thing to notice. In the case of a Bullish liquidity gap, the MM needs to push the price downward to begin filling the liquidity gap. As pent-up, unfilled BUY orders get transacted what do you think happens to the price? It ...

robots4me replied May 14, 2019@iwjw -- ObjectsDeleteAll() has nothing to do with this. That is an API that gets called when the indicator is deinit'd and exits. What @aaven circled is a price gap that occurred over a weekend -- possibly caused by some event that actually caused ...

robots4me replied May 14, 2019@aaven -- thanks. I think that would be considered a price gap -- it occurred over the weekend. The indicator, as currently written, should NOT treat that as a liquidity (or hidden) gap. Since that is a real gap then the price never existed within ...

robots4me replied May 14, 2019I've uploaded the initial version of the MMLiquidityGaps indicator I've mentioned a few times in recent posts. You can find it toward the end of post #1, which I've had to reorganize. I'm currently working on a *.pdf to provide some minimal ...

robots4me replied May 13, 2019@behof -- a bit off-topic. I don't think anyone is going to spend time slogging through a 40-page research paper. How about putting yourself in the other person's shoes and briefly summarize for us the main points. And then, if someone thinks it ...

robots4me replied May 13, 2019This is a good question -- and my authoritative answer is -- I don't know... At higher TFs the bar resolution is lower -- i.e. more ticks are condensed into each bar. So, there may be liquidity gaps visible at lower TFs that are not visible at ...

robots4me replied May 13, 2019@mades -- not to be rude, but please understand I'm not going to respond further to coding suggestions from someone who has never coded an indicator. The way @cja's dashboard switches between symbols and TF's is the same way as the MT4 application. ...

robots4me replied May 13, 2019@Blackeagle -- it's hard to read the numbers along the Y-axis on the RHS of your chart. I would think a liquidity gap is independent of the TF -- the price is the price regardless of the TF. The TFs receive the same tick data -- the only difference ...

robots4me replied May 13, 2019@Nih98 -- I started down that path -- but the problem was resolution. Drawing 1000's of rectangles 0.1 pip in height is very CPU and memory intensive. So I decided to use lines instead. Everything comes down to trade offs. Let's see how the first ...

robots4me replied May 13, 2019@mades -- no need for multiple charts. Use @cja's dashboard -- on one chart you can flip between all combinations of pairs and time frames. It's no different than flipping between tabs along the bottom of the terminal window. It's CPU intensive ...
