Price action in the last minute prior to the release. When trading price action I always ask myself the question "who is getting control - buyers or sellers"? I need a bunch more attempts at this technique before I can claim any success.

Bingo! Always nice to get it right. As you say Fish - just read the price action. Could have waited another 10 minutes longer and doubled the pips. Now, lets see if I can do this consistently

I agree with bloodpoodle. In addition to London/New York session open/lunch/close and timing of major news items each day, also look at the Wall Street open (9:30 am EST) and the NY Cut (option expiries at 10:00 am EST each day).
