I don't trade through forex brokers. Many of them are not really brokers anyway, they are bookmakers who do not participate in the forex market as such. I can't comment on either. I trade through a spreadbet provider who clearly have no foot in the ...

Have you traded with a bucket shop? If so, please name them and shame them. I trade through a UK-registered SB provider, they are FCA regulated and very legitimate. There's nothing to fear trading with such a firm except the regular difficulties of ...

The SB company I trade with doesn't take the other side of traders' positions, and neither did the others I dealt with going back to 2003. The current firm is UK-based and FCA-regulated: they make their money from spreads and overnight charges. NB: ...

As soon as people start talking about bucket shops I know they're talking about something they know nothing about. Since the only people who know anything about "bucket shops" are those who run them or their clients, why would I take the advice of ...

Doesn't it strike you as odd that when you post its expression of opinion, when I post its because you think I'm irritated? My opinion is you have a high opinion of your own opinions.

You're wrong with your sweeping generalisation about only using 1:20 leverage. Leverage isn't dangerous as such, it depends how you use it, how you trade. A blanket restriction on leverage rates will look like a success a year later to the ...

They will have consulted major players in the industry privately before doing anything. However, that doesn't make it a foregone conclusion as the private retail trader community would not have been consulted beforehand. The strong response does ...

Maybe, maybe not. ESMA is an EU regulatory body but its possible some EU states don't comply with its requirements yet, possibly the newest members and those still going through transition to full membership. Maybe some full EU members have opted ...

I'd rather risk the deposit with a UK-regulated company where I can be certain - 1) clients' funds are deposited separately to the company's operating capital 2) money withdrawals can be depended on 3) its not the front for a ponzi scheme 4) prices ...

It certainly includes financial spreadbetting as this is classed by ESMA as a type of CFD, but their original briefing said this initiative referred to CFD's and "other speculative products", so I guess the field's wide open.

That's about it really as far as seen currently. There should be a positive change, which s negative balance protection, some restrictions on aggressive marketing, better risk assessment of clients etc. But the loss of leverage will probably drive ...

It seems likely much of the big players in the financial industry will be happy for the proposed ESMA restrictions to be brought in. It will drive derivatives business to the biggest players as many smaller players will withdraw. It will reduce the ...

ESMA may be right, may be wrong. Lower leverage might be a good thing or might drive clients to switch to even more risky approaches. In any case, I've been using SB since 2003. I'm not at all disadvantaged by aggressive marketing techniques and ...
