Anyone looking for an ECN broker with GBP as the base currency you can open an account with Interactive Brokers. You only get 50:1 leverage and half of that if you're not trading your base currency. Also you need $5000 to open an account and you ...

I don't mean to nit pick but do you mean the other way around i.e. if you're going long the stop is just below the T3?

Nano-lots can be useful if you want to trade an exact amount e.g. if with each trade you use 5% of your available margin or if you use your account for hedging rather than trading.

Another issue could have been the widening spreads in the credit market in recent weeks, so you would have been charged more for borrowing and earned less for lending. Things are back to normal now for the time being.

That makes sense. Interest rate are themselves determined by traders on the open market and the market interest rate is never the same as the central bank base rate so in times of volatility in market interest rates like we've seen recently the ...

You can go to url # and click the link FXTrade's Interest Rate Form. You can see what interest rate Oanda was using on the days in questions. I don't think you can check the intraday volatility that was going on in the past few weeks.
Oanda being shady?????
- notouch replied Sep 8, 2007
I'm pretty sure it's the fact that interest rate differentials are based on LIBOR rates, not the central bank base rate. There were time in recent weeks were the USD Libor rates were well above the base rate which would have reversed the carry ...

My apologies, I see what you mean. You should have been earning interest. I've never had this issue trading GBP/USD so please keep us informed what Oanda say. What happens when you short those pairs? One thought that springs to mind is that the ...
Oanda being shady?????

There's nothing shady about it. You were charged interest because you opened negative carry trades. If you open positive carry trades you earn interest. You should really learn this basic stuff about how your broker works before trading with them.

My antivirus blocked a web downloader trojan too. Anyway, note the way Cable was very sharply rejected above the 2.0 level - suggests some sort of central bank or semi-official intervention.

Some of the biggest moves happen while the US is on holiday - sneaky 200 pip stop running moves.

Anyone can see order flow in the futures market. For spot fx a bank can see the order flow of it's own customers but not other banks. With some ECNs you can see order flow.

Cable still looks like it's rolling over. It looks like it's about to form the right shoulder of a head and shoulders top. If it can't get past 1.9850 then that could be a long term top which is followed by a long down trend back into the 1.80s. Of ...

No. GLOBEX is not trading yet and when it starts it will gap. Just after I posted that it gapped up to 1.9542 - same as the spot rate.

We've gapped up for no apparent reason. We often see big moves and stop running whenever the US is on holiday. What fun - take out those Americans' stops.

No offence but just browsing through the forum will answer your questions. BTW worst case scenario is you get slipped 200 pips and blow your account.

That's the whole point of the strategy. You use stop orders not limit orders (unless you're trying to fade). This has been discussed 1000s of times on the forum.
