jesperweber replied Sep 10, 2009All the pairs I'm watching have been trading water for the past two days, after the big move on Tuesday. With more time I'd look into non-JPY crosses to find relative strength, but I don't want to trade pairs that I'm not familiar with, especially ...

jesperweber replied Sep 4, 2009The egg came first. It is possible for the embryo in the egg to mutate from a pre-chicken lifeform into a chicken. Once it hatches it's a chicken and won't mutate into anything else during its lifetime. Of course, if that chicken is a hen (and not a ...

Session Breakouts (3 Trades, 15 minutes a day)
-
jesperweber replied Sep 3, 2009I fully agree. Since I typed my post GBPUSD has been making good headway to the upside, so caution is advised. The pair is up roughly 100 pips on the day, so with the ATR(10) standing at 169 there still is room to go.

jesperweber replied Sep 3, 2009Well, I'll see. Personally I don't believe in session-based trading. I watch them, because different market players make for different flows. I trade price action, which can be continuation or reversal, and look for support and resistance zones. The ...

jesperweber replied Sep 3, 2009Correct that: The pair has been going nowhere except against me...
Hit R3 Fibo Pivot and last week's low, and USDJPY is starting to turn down as well. I see a good chance that last week's low acts as support turned into resistance. I usually ...The WoRmHoLe

jesperweber replied Sep 3, 2009H4 triple top — GBPUSD is showing a triple top in the 1.6370/80 region on my H4 (GMT 0). I'm waiting to short either on a clear reversal signal on H1 or a break of the H4 trendline/Fibo Pivot R2 level. Definitely want to get on the ride once ...

jesperweber replied Sep 3, 2009Hi, Two things you might find interesting. Corporate traders (hedge funds, financial institutions, etc.) in the NY session often tend to reverse the price action of the Asian and European sessions. Especially for the major pairs, including GBPUSD ...
Session Breakouts (3 Trades, 15 minutes a day)
-
jesperweber replied Sep 2, 2009The pair has been going nowhere for the past 24 hours or so. On the H4, a rise in GBPUSD is neatly offset by a fall in USDJPY. I will be watching any breakout from the NY session (149.45 - 150.50 range) for direction. Good luck with your trades, ...

jesperweber replied Sep 2, 2009Hi, Don't mind at all. My background academically is in economics, mostly the effect of policy measures on real economic activity. Currently I'm doing research for a PhD, so I'm taking time off from my career and support myself by trading. My career ...

jesperweber replied Sep 2, 2009Hmmm... I'm doing pretty good on my demo accounts, but taking it life (I trade for a living) I still consistenly make stupid greed-fear-hope mistakes. Don't laugh, timeframe gets ever shorter if I show a profit, ever longer if I see a loss. I seem ...

jesperweber replied Sep 2, 2009Still, should serve as a good reminder to stick to MM rules with life trading. So there is something to take away from the contest. I was busy doing other stuff today, so no new trades for me. Have a G/J short on that's in the red right now but ...

jesperweber replied Sep 1, 2009So far — So far it's going well. Not enough to make the top-10, but a golf tournament is not won in the first round. More important, I had no losing trades, no drawdown, and am up over 16% on the day. With ridiculous position sizing, of ...

jesperweber replied Sep 1, 2009Quo vadis? — Talk about convergence... G/J down move stalled right at previous weekly low and daily pivot. My gut says it will attempt lower today, but without a prior retracement to the upside maybe G/U finds it easier to run -- if it can get ...

jesperweber replied Sep 1, 2009Also, I'm sure you have noticed that the spread on our favorite pair is rather high at 7 pips -- my main broker usually offers 2-3 pips, which is a huge difference when scalping. Maybe, at least during periods of similar volatility, EURJPY with ...
