EF5 replied Feb 10, 2020Silver might have more practical utility than gold. Imagine "something" happens and you're trying to pay for groceries with an ounce of gold. Its like paying with $1,000 and nobody has change. lol

EF5 replied Feb 10, 2020The Gold/Silver ratio is recovering nicely. It may hit a new high soon: image I think Silver is actually doing pretty well given the depressed industrial aspect from the coronavirus. image

EF5 replied Feb 7, 2020I read a good article today talking about how the Chinese might enact a major stimulus program to boost their economy. His trade of choice: copper! It's a pretty compelling idea I think; provided the virus isn't significantly worse than we know.

EF5 replied Feb 7, 2020I read an article today making a good case for a Chinese stimulus to combat the economic impact of the virus. If they go through with it, oil would be a major beneficiary.

EF5 replied Feb 5, 2020The price action sure is bullish. It's hard to even call this a correction given how quickly we've returned to the highs. That's good for me since I'm long, but I figured I'd have to endure a little pain first.

EF5 replied Feb 4, 2020Wow. TD has really gone downhill. I tried calling their customer service last week and gave up after waiting 15 minutes. I tried the next day and gave up again... I called my other broker, Schwab, and they picked up in about 30 seconds. Fortunately ...

EF5 replied Feb 3, 2020It feels to me like we'd need this correction to last longer. Its only been 11 trading days since we were at all time highs and the VIX hasn't even hit 20. I checked my all my economic indicators last night and long still looks like the correct side ...

EF5 replied Jan 30, 2020I was interested to see Mark Minervini (one of Schwager's Market Wizards) went short the S&P: url He had been bullish for a long time so I was surprised to see him take a short position. It sounds like it's more about just being a very good ...

EF5 replied Jan 29, 2020That all sounds spot on to me. You're right, straddles are really bets on implied volatility. Funny you mention this because I just learned some new 2nd derivative Greeks this week. Ever hear of Vanna? I thought that one was pretty interesting since ...

EF5 replied Jan 29, 2020I don't plan on buying any more this cycle. We're too close to the top and I'm probably going to sell everything soon. Just a word of caution, late cycle corrections can be pretty violent. Check out 2007: image In August 2007 it probably felt like ...

EF5 replied Jan 28, 2020Probably not. I'm looking for a sell off of 5-15% then more all-time highs. The reason I don't think this was the top is market breath was good all along. Major market tops have weak breadth so I think the bull lives on for now. There are a lot of ...

EF5 replied Jan 28, 2020It seems like you'd want to trade options based on the underlying asset's price action, not the option's price action. I don't see how that would work due to decay.
