lostinspace replied Jul 30, 2008Five minutes after the June NFP numbers were released, times in the top left quote panel are BST (EDT +5). The market wasn't particularly volatile, Oanda's spreads are more or less back to normal. The 'move' on Eur/Usd which can be seen in the video ...
Oanda Stop Hunting?
-
lostinspace replied Jul 30, 2008lol, it's not a rant, they're just plain facts. Oanda's quotes were 44 pips away from market and any other marketmaker, plain and simple. Oanda stand by those quotes and refuse to explain the disparity. They are, of course, perfectly within their ...

Any Successful trader here using Oanda?

lostinspace replied Jul 22, 2008Ummm, they're bucketshops? They hedge aggregate not individual, they can show you whatever they want to show you, -1 pip spreads, 100 pip spreads, any price (within reason most of them).....it's a virtual forex world and has very little to do with ...

lostinspace replied Jul 22, 2008IBFX open an hour later on Sunday and close an hour earlier on Friday and their spreads aren't really competitive. Alpari UK's prices freeze every now and then plus I had connection problems across fundamantal data releases. None of that may affect ...

lostinspace replied Jul 22, 2008If/How/When bucketshops hedge exposure is a different subject I think and doesn't affect the spreads they're quoting (like I say, in normal market conditions).
Would you trade more if broker fees were lower?

lostinspace replied Jul 21, 2008fxtrader42 and blacksun1 I think you guys are missing one important point here, the majority of MM's at this level are bucketshops. Why would spreads and liquidity in the underlying market (in normal market conditions) bother them?
Would you trade more if broker fees were lower?
-
lostinspace replied Jul 21, 2008I think we're talking about bucketshops here aren't we, they pretty much do what they want and make up quotes and spreads to suit themselves and to pull in the punters. What they do to them once they're inside is another matter!
Would you trade more if broker fees were lower?
-
lostinspace replied Jul 21, 2008If you're just talking about spreads then I guess a serious scalper going after 5 pips or so would trade more wouldn't he, or rather he'd trade more pairs. What's the scalper's favorite, Eur/Usd because the spread is so tight? Imagine 1 or 2 pip ...

-
lostinspace replied Jul 21, 2008eye4spot, you'll rarely find two marketmakers/brokers whose quotes match pip for pip or maintain a fixed lag difference. If you're trading with a bucketshop then you'll be streamed quotes that suit their order book, exposure, and which (loosely!) ...

lostinspace replied Jul 19, 2008Good advice, that's why I always use MT4 for charting, prices may not be accurate but at least it shows up when there's a major discrepancy. I've read various reports and opinions about eSignal, apparently their feed is a bit unreliable lately, have ...

lostinspace replied Jul 19, 2008No idea, probably one of the major data providers, I think GTIS is one isn't it? They probably add in their own liquidity providers feed somewhere along the line with their own algorithms to adjust the streamed quotes you see, but logistically I've ...

lostinspace replied Jul 19, 2008If your trading style has flagged your account as possibly taking advantage of any latency that exists then they'll either boot you out, suspend your account, or put you on manual execution. Not saying that's the reason but it could be. If I were ...
