Wow, we literally just saw a strong bearish move, wild rollercoaster on gold this week!

Technical wise I agree, we should, but fundamentally this is going to be tricky as stimulus talks in the US are back on the table and Gold seems to take fundamentals very seriously as of late. Technicals say down, fundamentals say up.

Yea there was an initial buy. but I feel like the dollar will bounce back and this gold move could prove to be a trap, I feel more comfortable for a more solid bottom like around 1810-1820. Let's see what happens. I still see it quite bearish this ...

Hourly closed bearish engulfing, let's see what 4H does but Gold is massively overbought on the monthly, bulls are losing steam, would like to see a drop to 1650's before continuation

Love your posts as they're very educative mate, do you have any books to recommend to learn more about your trading method apart from observing your posts, or did this all come naturally through market observation and experience for you?

I got stuck in a sell trade since 1705-1710 levels, forgot SL so underwater big time now . Do I take the loss and try to long here or is there a chance it might drop to sub 1710 again sometime next week?

I doubt there will be no gap, markets rallied at the end of the week with expectations of a deal being voted through on Saturday. What the market got is more uncertainty and risk with whether deal would pass or not, and whether there will be another ...

I am skeptical about trusting IG price movement, it feels like the price moves are just based on trades done in their weekend market, but does not reflect interbank transactions and all that which cause the gaps during the weekend.

Managed to get a buy in around 1478, will be looking to shorting around that 1496 resistance area

1482 seems to be forming some resistance on the 15M charts, being right below 2 fibonacci levels (61.8 and 23.8). If daily closes below this level we could see some further sell-off imo

If the 23.6 fibo level at 1482 gives in,and the short term trendline at 1478 possibly, retest of 1460 bottom highly likely. If that breaks then fibo retracement 1448 is very likely. A bounce off either level would lead us to retest the 1500 level ...

are you mainly looking at 4HR closes or D1 closes below these levels?

Top of channel was recently reached though last week, it's possible that we see a bottom test at 1450 before a move up, market seems to be waiting some major developments with US/China or Brexit to take a direction.

Appreciate the support, it's a learning curve, especially when emotions or regret for example are experienced while trading, gotta learn how to deal with it I guess. ATM i'm spreading out TP's across a zone as you mention to avoid similar problems ...

- chasinpips replied Oct 2, 2019
Wow..... looked at price last morning 1460 5$ short of my TP from 1492. Looked at it this morning back to 1500 wiping ALL my profits. unbelievable how greedy I was and didn't take profits earlier.. leason learned

We're in a major support turned resistance, rather see another leg down to 1450's and then up again to new highs rather than extending the overbought levels we're in rn

Do you mostly rely on the daily close to confirm support/resistances, even if there are wicks above on the H4/H1?
