traders lose because spot forex is a zero-sum game. you're directly competing against other speculators. if you're not up to par you lose. this is why you need to start off with demo and small disposable accounts

oh jeez that's bad news for scalping. why is finding a decent broker so difficult for US customers. every one i've looked at had some major issue that kept me from opening an account

assuming you're trading EURUSD, you'd need 10,000 units to earn $1/pip. 10,000 units EUR = ~13,000 USD 13,000 / 50 = 260 You'd need $260 per trade. So for 10 open trades that would be over $2500

yeah you're right i was just using USD because i assume OP is in the US. for other currencies you'd have to do a conversion. and yeah, 10,000 lots is a mini account. micro would be 1,000. got the 2 mixed up

can someone clarify on IB's pipette accuracy? their live spreads show 5 full decimal places for EUR USD, but the demo service displays pipettes in 1/2 increments.

can anyone confirm that oanda doesn't enforce FIFO policy on different-sized orders in live trading? in the demo, for example, i can open 2 separate positions sized 25,000 and 25,001, and close them individually.
