RBNZ keeps talking NZD down. Gullible speculators keeping shorting. NZD keeps ripping up. Banksters who took other side of trade keep winning. Forget technical analysis for NZD. Just do opposite of what RBNZ says. And if speculators are winning, ...

Yes, at the ECN broker I opened an account with, the spreads are less but the slippage is more.

Folks, I have ranted against Oanda in my few previous posts. I was angry about the spread widening (esp. on exotic pairs such as GBP/NZD) during news. I opened an account with a reputable US ECN broker, and realized that the spreads widen at the ECN ...

Folks, I opened an account with a reputable ECN broker and realized this is true. The spreads widen like crazy all across the board.

Carney will be next British PM. Why not? John Keys (the current New Zealand PM) went from NY Fed Board of Governors to NZ PM.

:-) I am leaving Oanda. I won't trade with a market maker again.

If we could take delivery of FX (like the futures/commodities markets), we could arb Oanda into oblivion.

No, I'm living right here my friend. While your arguments are erudite, I disagree with them. The point we're making is: the broker should not be the market maker. The broker should not take the other side of your trade. If your broker (like Oanda) ...

There would be *NO* need for the broker "to be one step ahead" if that broker was not a Market Maker. The broker could simply "charge a commission" and pass the trade to the interbank market. The shenanigan of widening the spread multiple times over ...

Profit Daily: Thank you for taking the time to warn folks. They need to understand the difference between DMA/ECN and market makers. I wish I had been better informed earlier.

Thank you HedgePiglet for the screen shots. Your advice of closing open positions to avoid such spread increases prior to news is sound. I don't have an institutional account. From my experience, I'd say Oanda probably inflates the interbank spread ...

What upsets me about Oanda is the ridiculous widening of the spread. I have filed a complaint with NFA. Let's see what comes out of it. (Yes, I should've filed a complaint much earlier, but I was naive). In investigating their spread increases, I ...

It should be *ILLEGAL* for a broker to be a Market Maker. How can client interests be foremost when the broker has the other side of the trade? In my opinion, a broker that is a market maker is akin to a thief being a banker.

'Triple Witch' induces volatility. It does not affect (stock) spreads. (Stock) spreads even stay fixed around volatility due to company news. Yet, without fail, FX spreads skyrocket at Oanda. I'm beginning to suspect Oanda has a lot of paid shrills ...

I believe you. Since Oanda is a market maker, their client trades wouldn't be passed out to the market anyways. I would suspect any client on the right side of the SNB trade would've been stopped out by a massive spread increase (if they had any ...
