Windows already comes with remote desktop. I use to connect to my other house all the time, a little laggy because the other house has a slower broadband package but it dosent bother me too much.

If you trade the mini-indexes you can open up 1 lot with about $400-$700, depending on your broker. With $8k you should be safe day trading 5 lots. Longer term, you need to adjust accordingly because over-night margins come into play.
