[quote=MIKKI;14725141] Didn't US retail sales increase?

Keep in mind that the ONS data is seasonally adjusted i.e. they account for seasonal effects (e.g. Christmas spending, Cyber Monday...). The trend has been down since April '21. This is pretty grim for a consumer-based economy.

I'm surprised the consensus was 4.75 considering the CPI data. 5% shouldn't have been a surprise. BoE doing what I imagine any central bank would do. The problem for the UK is that this shows that the govt has probably decided to let (or facilitate) ...

I'm new to trading gold so not sure what rocks the market yet. Does the Prelim UoM Consumer Sentiment coming out @1500 (UK) (10am US I think), not have any impact?

Hi spzd I've been dropping in and out to follow your thread as a lot of what you're saying resonates with my own experiences. Regarding SB, he has some very useful content and I'm certainly much better at understanding what HAS happened, but I ...

Hi billytt - interesting thread (too much to take in). I've recently been trying to work out a system based on the TKO range and the LO, and it could be that the 0800-0815 is the missing piece. Cheers

Genghis Khan would disagree! ;-)

Completely agree. I'm not sure which big fat elephant you're referring to, so I'll give my take (which is very UK-biased). Someone once pointed out that 'success breeds inertia'. In my business life, I see it all of the time, for example, in the ...

I take your comments as useful analysis. I find most political discourse ends up being too binary, and one size doesn't fit all.

IMO - Trussonomics was lazy politics and economics - it was probably never going to work. The best case was in a booming economy, the government could lower taxes enough to breeze through the next election. It was ideologically driven with no ...

Good point. It also appears that the membership is open to anyone, anywhere, with no checks in place. Seems like a major flaw to me. IMO, Sunak made mistakes (and I admit to only seeing this with hindsight - but then I'm not paid to do this) during ...

Not sure what rules they will be following but hopefully not leaving it to the members this time. Rishi? Probably seen as a safe pair of hands and I guess will support Hunt's austerity 2.0.

Surely not. Isn't he about to be investigated for lying to parliament?!?

Hi P4L, I hope you can help, but understand if not. I really like this indicator (I use multiple instances of it on a chart to show various timed ranges e.g. overnight range, TKO range, LO range etc...), but have a requirement for two additions ...

Not sure how someone can claim this not to be a tax cut. The 'mini-budget' is a massive tax cut plus a reversal of several tax rises. I'm trying to figure out the likely scenarios from here, and I can't see anything good. The best case (IMO) is a ...

Agree with most of what you are suggesting - I do sometimes exaggerate a point to test out thoughts and ideas - and the reality is that I want to help my children and give them an unfair advantage ;-)

I'm less worried about someone being able to earn a lot of money in their lifetime than I am about passing that wealth onto heirs. IMO inherited wealth is the root cause of inequality. We currently rely on 'brilliant' leaders to come from a very ...

This news isn't the news. Every developed nation will have civil contingency plans for this type of event. The problem arises when politicians get involved, and do things like 'fast-track' procurement, or spin facts to suit their political ...
