Copper hits 6-week high after US, China agree to restart trade talks

Copper and other base metals rallied on Monday, after the United States and China agreed to restart trade talks, easing risks of severe global economic growth that hurt demand for metals. U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday offered concessions, including no new tariffs and an easing of restrictions on tech company Huawei, while China agreed to make new purchases of U.S. farm products and return to the negotiating table. Benchmark copper in London rose 1.3% to $6,071.50 a tonne by 0106 GMT, its highest since May 20, while the most-traded copper contract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange advanced 0.9% to 47,420 yuan ...
