Silver Shortage Deepens: Sixth Straight Deficit Year in 2026

The silver market is on pace to record its sixth consecutive year of supply deficit in 2026. According to the Silver Institute, global consumption is expected to outrun supply by 46.3 million ounces (Moz), bringing the total shortfall since 2021 to a staggering 762.1 Moz. Notably, experts expect a silver supply deficit this year despite a decline in global demand. The supply side of the equation is the real culprit, as mine production stagnates and recycling slows.
