UK plans $66 million for critical minerals projects
The United Kingdom is going to spend £50 million ($66 million) to support the domestic production of critical minerals "essential for everyday products - from smartphones and fridges to electric vehicles," the UK government said. The money, which comes on top of over £200 million already provided for the industry, seeks to lower the UK's reliance on overseas imports and safeguard its economy from "global shocks and supply disruptions," Monday's press release noted.
