US Import and Export Price Indexes - May 2026

U.S. import prices increased 1.9 percent in May, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today, following a 2.0-percent rise in April. Higher prices for fuel imports and nonfuel imports drove the advance in May. Prices for U.S. exports increased 1.3 percent in May, after rising 3.5 percent the previous month. Prices for U.S. imports advanced 1.9 percent in May following increases of 2.0 percent in April and 0.9 percent in March. Prices for U.S. imports rose 6.7 percent from May 2025 to May 2026, the largest over- the-year advance since the index increased 7.7 percent in August 2022. (See table 1.) Fuel Imports: ...
