In April 2026, French consumer prices rose by 2.2% year on year

In April 2026, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose again by 1.0% over one month, as in March and after +0.6% in February. This increase was due to the mostly seasonal one in services prices (+1.2% after +0.2%), notably those of transport (+9.1% after stability) and accommodation services (+4.9% after ‑0.8%), and to a further sharp rise in the prices of energy (+4.7% after +8.9%) driven by the prices of petroleum products (diesel, petrol and liquid fuel; +8.2% after +17.1%).
